Welcome to Year 1

Year 1 is taught by Mrs Campbell and is supported by Mrs Proctor, Mrs Wilkinson, Miss Harding and Miss Melvin. We are excited to welcome your children to year 1 and start their KS1 journey. This is an exciting time as your child will be in KS1 for the first time and learn lots of new skills. Some children may find the new routines a bit daunting, but we will be there to guide them through all these changes.

Here is some key information which may help with the transition and provide further information about our weekly routines.

Physical Education:

Thursday

The children will need their full kit for their PE lessons. Any child who has pierced ears will either need to remove these or they will need to bring plasters into school.

Swimming will be on Friday mornings first thing- full swimming kit needed.

Reading:

Children are expected to bring their book and reading record to school everyday.  Reading diaries will be monitored weekly. It is expected that children are reading and/or sharing a book each day at home. It is important that reading records are kept up to date with a signature and page number. This will help staff to ensure books are changed regularly. Children will also select their own free reading book from a selection from the school library which they want to share with an adult at home. Can you please encourage and support their love of reading.

Homework:

Homework will be given out on Friday and will be due to be handed in the following Thursday.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to speak to us.
