Our Governors

Our school governors play a vital role in supporting and guiding the strategic direction of the school. Working closely with the leadership team, they help ensure that every decision puts the best interests of the children first. Committed to the success and wellbeing of our pupils, staff, and wider community, our governors work as a team to provide oversight, accountability, and encouragement, helping the school grow and thrive for the benefit of all.

Governors' Commitment

Our governors are deeply committed to putting children first. They work as a team to support, challenge, and guide the school in all areas of its development, ensuring every decision is made with pupils' learning, safety, and wellbeing in mind.

Roles & Responsibilities

Governors have a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Financial Oversight – Monitoring the school’s budget and ensuring resources are used efficiently.

  • Buildings & Premises – Ensuring the school environment is safe, well-maintained, and supports learning.

  • School Effectiveness – Evaluating school performance and progress towards strategic goals.

  • Curriculum – Supporting and reviewing the curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all learners.

  • Staff Appraisal – Overseeing performance management and staff development.

  • Pupil Discipline – Supporting the school in promoting good behaviour and handling serious incidents when needed.

Committees

To carry out their work effectively, the governing body is organised into focused committees:

  • Finance & Resources Committee – Oversees the budget, staffing, and buildings.

  • Curriculum & Standards Committee – Focuses on teaching quality, pupil progress, and the curriculum.

  • Staffing & Appraisal Committee – Manages headteacher appraisal and ensures effective staff performance systems.

  • Pupil Discipline Panel – Meets when needed to review exclusions and behaviour matters.
