Handwriting

At Thorn Primary, we place a strong emphasis on developing clear, fluent, and consistent handwriting. We follow a structured handwriting programme that begins with correct letter formation and joined letters. As children move through the school. Regular practice helps build muscle memory, supports spelling, and enables children to write with speed and confidence across all areas of the curriculum.

Enjoy using Letter-join at home! Click the link and enter the school’s login details provided below. Your child will be able to practise the same continuous cursive letter formations and joins that we use in school. This helps reinforce correct handwriting habits, supports spelling, and builds fluency and confidence in their writing. Regular practice at home will complement their learning in the classroom.

Letter Joining
media

Letter formation is the foundation of good handwriting. It involves learning how to form each letter correctly, starting and finishing in the right place, and using the correct strokes and direction. We teach continuous cursive letter formation from the beginning to support smooth joining and develop a fluent, legible writing style.
