Reading & Writing

At Thorn Primary, we follow Lancashire’s Planning Sequence for Writing, which uses high-quality texts to inspire and develop children’s writing. The sequence begins with immersion in the text, followed by focused grammar and sentence work, and ends with planning, writing, and editing their own piece. This approach ensures children learn key writing skills in context, leading to purposeful and high-quality outcomes across a range of genres.
